Empowering Innovation through Thematic Workshops: A Collaborative Journey with Cypriot Stakeholders

We are thrilled to share the success of our recent thematic workshops held on the 19th of February 2024, as part of the Cross-Border Joint R&I Strategic Orientation initiative. This transformative event brought together over 50 stakeholders from various sectors in Cyprus, marking a significant milestone in shaping the future of Research and Innovation (R&I) in the region.

Background: The workshops were an integral part of a comprehensive process that stemmed from the findings of a thorough diagnosis in relevant sectors. The analysis of R&I needs and gaps laid the foundation for a co-creation approach, fostering joint R&I ambitions, visions, and values. The collaborative effort resulted in the development of a shared R&I orientation and roadmap.

Successful Participatory Process: The workshops witnessed an enthusiastic and engaged participation from stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of their voices in shaping the strategic direction. The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive, underscoring the success of the participatory process.

Involvement of Public Bodies: Recognizing the crucial role of public bodies, their active involvement and presence during the workshops were emphasized. The collaboration with public entities adds a layer of comprehensive insight and ensures that the strategic orientation aligns with broader societal goals.

Future Endeavors: Building on the success in Cyprus, similar stakeholder engagement workshops are planned for Croatia. This cross-border approach reflects our commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation across different regions.

Next Steps: Post the diagnosis and orientation phase, a final document will be prepared. The next crucial step involves actively involving stakeholders in the project’s focus sectors. This engagement aims to garner a deep understanding of funding needs and opportunities, paving the way for the development of sectoral action and investment plans. These plans will not only identify investment needs in the focus sectors but also provide a strategic path for commercial exploitation.

As we continue this collaborative journey, we are excited about the positive impact this initiative will have on the R&I landscape. The commitment and engagement of stakeholders are instrumental in driving innovation and fostering sustainable development.

Stay tuned for further updates as we work towards shaping a future where R&I thrives through collective effort and shared vision.
