SeaTecHub, which focuses on eco-innovative technologies for healthy and productive seas, has recently participated in the closing ceremony of the “OS-Aqua Open Sea Aquaculture in the Eastern Mediterranean” project. The “OS-Aqua” project is a national strategic initiative that aims to pioneer the development of an Open Sea Aquacultural Industry in Cyprus. This ambitious effort holds immense promise for Cyprus by offering the potential to significantly boost food production while minimizing adverse impacts on the natural environment. Specifically, it has developed a roadmap for the development of environmentally sustainable and high-yield aquaculture practices in new marine areas identified via a process of marine spatial planning.

The project consortium included esteemed partners, such as the University of Nicosia Research Foundation, Frederic Research Center, University of Cyprus Oceanography Center, Geomatic Technologies, Cyprus Subsea Consulting and Services Ltd, Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, and the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research.

SeaTecHub’s participation in the closing event of the “OS-Aqua” project represents its dedication to building bridges with other marine and maritime related projects. During the event, SeaTecHub showcased its planned activities, emphasizing its commitment to contributing to advancing the eco-innovative technologies. By attending presentations and participating in the discussion session, SeaTecHub has received valuable information from presentations and discussions with attendees and, therefore, contributed to the work of Working Group 1 – Aquaculture and Fisheries, with a scope to collect data for diagnosis through interaction with stakeholders within ecosystems.
